A crown is a custom-made, tooth-shaped “cap” that is permanently placed over your natural tooth. Your teeth may weaken over time, and your dentist may recommend crowns for many reasons. It can be used to rebuild and strengthen a tooth with a large filling, cap a tooth that’s badly shaped, or cover a dental implant. Crowns are also often used in natural-looking smile makeovers.

How Is The Dental Crown Procedure Done?
- Local anesthesia is administered.
- The tooth that needs treatment is filed to make room for the crown.
- Your dentist takes some impressions of the filed tooth and the adjacent teeth to custom-made your dental crown. A temporary crown is placed for the meantime to protect the tooth until the permanent crown is placed.
- On your next visit, the permanent crown custom-made from the impressions will be placed. Your dentist will check its fit, shape, bite, and color first before finally cementing the crown into place.
